Test-Prep Service Knewton Partners With Arizona State

Getting slaughtered in Math? Knewton is here to save the day. The remedial courses and exam prep startup recently outgrew its New York stomping ground and has expanded into faraway Arizona State, where it will offer full fledged math programs to students who can’t make the grade. Students become acquainted with Knewton if they score low on a preliminary assessment exam, requiring that they take remedial classes using Knewton’s adaptive learning program.

The recent move was driven by Knewton’s need to expand its tutorial service in a sluggish economy. Knewton is also set to make small ripples in higher education as it applies its adaptive learning edge beyond its core-service of GMAT, LSAT, and SAT prep courses. Simply put, the expanded adaptive learning approach remains a customizable process where the student’s ability dictates the pace of his/her lessons. The ultimate goal is to provide a tailor-made alternative to preparatory classes, one that goes hand in hand with age old tutoring. Not to replace the latter, but to improve it.

This unexpected union between a learning site and a place of higher learning is seen as a small effort at disrupting modern education. Of course, this doesn’t exactly mean a negative trend—”disruptive” best describes how once rigid methods are being changed for a more compliant fit to a student’s academic needs. Since taking the lead in expanding its adaptive learning approach, Knewton has garnered well-deserved praise from the technology press.

Students will surely benefit from this partnership especially for those who are preparing for the SAT. I like to share collegeinsightsonline.com. A site that can also help students.
