Get To Know Who Presented At NY Tech Meetup This Month

NY tech meetup logoAside from the extensive presenter interviews here at NY Tech Blog for next week’s highly anticipated Tech Mixer at Crimson, an earlier Meetup at Kimmel Center attracted its fair share of technologists. The social media ecosystem is vast and proof of this are the interesting startups that showed the Kimmel Center crowd (700 strong) what they had to offer. The presenters and their companies were compelling, to say the least. Bent on enriching the user experience through key services and fresh ideas, the extent of the tools each presenter company had available were attractive, even funny.  Below is a quick guide:

Teaspiller- The accountant service (tagline: Love your accountant) already got a dose of the spotlight with founder Amit Vemuri’s interview yesterday. What Teaspiller specializes in being the gateway to some 20,000  experts who’ll straighten out taxes and such.

Proust- Named after the 19th century writer-intellectual, is a new social media experience where users share their life stories rather than just everyday details. The Proust team actually share office space with Vimeo and The Daily Beast.

DontEat.At- A clever mobile app that informs users where not to eat. The idea of a lone coder who made a connection between New York’s restaurants and their overall hygiene wants users to know if dinner someplace really is worth it. Or not. Hence, it’s don’t eat at.

FancyHands- Have a team of assistants who can do 15 tasks for users at just $35 a month with no additional fees. Call it a delegating service or just plain useful.

YouAreTV- Dubbed “The Web’s First Live Interactive Game Show” YouAreTV has already bagged partnerships with other rising startups like HowAboutWe, Scoop St, VillageVines.
