Foursquare News Of The Week: Targeted Deals

FoursquareTargeted what? Think of this as Foursquare’s first step toward a historic alliance with Groupon. Thanks to new partnerships with Zozi, LivingSocial, Gilt City, At&T Interactive, and Buywithme, fresh new deals are available thru Foursquare on iPhones, Android, and Blackberry’s.

The deals feature is limited though as it’s only available in North America, the U.K., and Australia.

The deals will appear on smartphones as ‘Special Offer’s and closely follow check in histories for its ‘targeting with social justification’ theme.

Once on Foursquare, user shave to keep their eyes peeled for specials in the Explore tab, where the partner companies will be offering good stuff.

According to the Foursquare blog post explaining this development:

“Whether it’s a discount or special treatment or a free baseball, people love foursquare Specials. That’s why we’ve been expanding the platform – creating new types of Specials, offering Starwood Reward Points, and partnering with American Express for new ‘load to card’ seamless redemption. And, starting this week, foursquare Specials will now include ‘Deals’ – deep discounts that you buy ahead of time–”
