Co-Working Goes Mainstream: A Freelance Paradise?

Dumbo (1)Apparently, the biggest drawback of working at home is the overwhelming solitude and the messy combination of private/work life.

That’s pretty obvious, but thanks to the burgeoning tech scene and a flood of penniless hackers and other professionals, co-working spaces have become the new normal.

The last time co-working spaces were written about here at NY tech Blog, the text was glowing:

“Another boon for coworking is a lot of work does get done. While regular employees in regular offices while away the hours on Facebook, coworking peeps are still individuals who are ‘trying to change the world with the next big thing.’ This means they really put in lots of time on projects while still having fun.”

It seems the trend won’t die any time soon as Phyllis Korkki of The New York Times writes about places such as Hive at 55 and IndyHall where loose associations of professionals try to get things done. Surprise, surprise, a lot of cool stuff actually emerges in co-working spaces. Especially if its an app or is remotely connected to tech.

Open the source link below for the whole read. It offer a slightly different perspective on the co-working spaces, depicting a compromise between the independence of self-employment and the cozy atmosphere of a bustling office.
