CityMaps’ Heavy Use Of Social Media A Boon

In its Series A round, New York startup CityMaps recently received $2.5 million financed by Dave Leyrer and 360i.com president Dave Levin.

CityMaps is a mobile and desktop app similar to Google Maps in functionality, but offers more features, relying heavily on the use of social media. The app gathers information on businesses from social media sites and displays them in a fun and user-friendly way.

The app is now also fully integrated with social media companies like Foursquare and Groupon. Now, users will be able to see the Twitter logo every time someone tweets about a particular place, establishment or business.
